FM: Azerbaijan has always supported Palestine in its struggle for freedom and independence

Baku. 5 November. REPORT.AZ / Palestine feels the support and solidarity of Azerbaijanis, Palestinian Foreign Minister  Riad Malki said.

Report informs that the minister spoke at a meeting of ambassadors of the State of Palestine in Asia held in Baku.

"The importance of this conference is quite clear. It allows to gather all the ambassadors in the Asian countries in one place at the same time - today in Baku - to discuss a number of challenges facing the Palestinian authorities," Malki said.

According to him, Baku was not chosen as a venue by accident, since as Azerbaijan is a friendly country for Palestine.

"My relations with Elmar Mammadyarov are more than the relationship of counterparts. We consider each other friends and brothers. I feel the support and solidarity of the Azerbaijanis in the Palestinian issue. Azerbaijan has always supported Palestine in its struggle for freedom and independence," the Palestinian Minister said.

According to him, the initiative to hold a meeting of Palestinian ambassadors in Baku was put forward by Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov.

"We could not find a better place than Baku. We cannot hold such meetings in Palestine due to Israel's restrictive measures. The military occupation of our territories by the Israelis prevents our officials from entering and leaving Palestine freely. Some of our ambassadors do not have access to the Palestinian occupied lands because of restrictions. Therefore, we were looking for a place to meet in a friendly atmosphere that is close enough to Palestine. That is why we chose Baku," the Palestinian Minister added.
