FM: Azerbaijan guarantees respect for all rights and freedoms of ethnic Armenians in Karabakh

The Azerbaijani government has committed itself to reintegrating ethnic Armenians living in the Karabakh region as equal citizens within the framework of political-legal, social and economic relations, Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov said at the 54th session of the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva, Report informs.

According to him, Azerbaijan guarantees them the observance of all relevant rights and freedoms provided for by the Constitution of the country.

The minister emphasized that at the moment Armenia is trying to evade fulfilling its obligations in the process of normalizing relations.

“Armenia, driven by revanchist sentiments, trying to evade fulfilling its obligations within the framework of the normalization process, actively promotes ethnic hatred, distorts facts, manipulates ethnic Armenians and misleads the international community with fabricated narratives,” said Bayramov.

According to the minister, interference in the internal affairs of states that undermines their sovereignty and territorial integrity is strictly prohibited by international law.

“Any such attempts must be condemned and resolutely rejected by the international community,” the minister emphasized.
