Azerbaijan, on the basis of the relevant UN Security Council resolutions, ensured its territorial integrity. The right of about a million Azerbaijani IDPs to live in their homes has been restored. The 44-day Patriotic War changed the situation in the region and shaped new realities, Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov said at the 25th meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) in Ashgabat, Report informs.
The minister noted that achieving sustainable peace, development and progress is the basis of Azerbaijan’s vision of the future: “We expect a response from Armenia to the steps taken by Azerbaijan in this direction. The trilateral statements of the leaders of Azerbaijan, Russia and Armenia, including the statement signed on November 26, note that the restoration of communications, the opening of railways and highways in the region will lead to sustainable peace and stability in the region, and will significantly increase trade and transport flow through Armenia and Azerbaijan, which is in the interests of our countries and our partners. The initiative that comes to the fore is the Zangezur Corridor. It has the potential to improve connectivity in the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (Middle Corridor).”
