FM: Armenia has been firing at Azerbaijani positions, civilians over past month

Armenia has regularly been opening fires at Azerbaijani positions and the civilian population over the past month, Jeyhun Bayramov, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, said during a phone conversation with Karen Donfried, Assistant Secretary of State of the United States of America for European and Eurasian Affairs, Report informs.

Bayramov informed the Assistant Secretary about the large-scale provocations of the armed forces of Armenia in the Azerbaijan-Armenia border areas, as well as the measures taken to prevent military threats to the territory and sovereignty of Azerbaijan and to ensure the safety of the Azerbaijani military personnel, including civilian workers involved in infrastructure works.

The minister emphasized that the fact of Armenia’s regular opening of fires at Azerbaijani positions and civilian population over the past month, increasing militarization along the borders of Azerbaijan, and continuing planting of landmines in the territories is an indication that Armenia has been preparing for a large-scale military provocation.
