First meeting of South Caucasus regional platform in Moscow over

On December 10, the first meeting of the consultative regional platform 3+3 was held in Moscow under the co-chairmanship of Deputy Foreign Ministers of Russia A. Rudenko, Azerbaijan Khalaf Khalafov, Armenia V. Gevorkyan, Turkey S. Onal, as well as General-Director Iranian Foreign Ministry Alireza Haghighian, as Report informs referring to the Russian Foreign Ministry that prospects for the development of multifaceted regional cooperation were discussed at the meeting.

It was agreed to focus the work of the platform on practical issues of interest to all its participants. These include measures to increase confidence, interaction in the trade, economic, transport, cultural, and humanitarian fields, and countering common challenges and threats.

Representatives of the five countries expressed interest in joining the work of the Georgian platform, for which the "door" remains open.

Further steps and work plans for the future were discussed with the possible involvement of relevant ministries and departments.

The initiative to create a platform for regional cooperation in the 3+3 format (Azerbaijan, Georgia, Armenia, Turkey, Russia, and Iran) was put forward by the presidents of Azerbaijan and Turkey, Ilham Aliyev and Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

Georgia refused to participate in the meeting.
