Fergus Auld: Azerbaijan is undiscovered treasure

I an interview with Asan Radio, UK Ambassador to Azerbaijan, Fergus Auld, said he described Azerbaijan as an undiscovered treasure in his country, Report informs via Yonhap.

Emphasizing that he considers Azerbaijan to be a unique country with beautiful people and mountains, the ambassador added that living in Ganja for 6 weeks before living in Baku helped him a lot to get to know the life and culture of Azerbaijan.

The ambassador spoke about his love for Azerbaijani cuisine, among which he especially highlighted Sheki’a piti and Lankaran’a turshu kebab.

“If I have time on the weekend, I like to leave Baku for fresh air and explore other parts of the country,” said Auld.

The diplomat shared his experience of traveling to various regions of Azerbaijan, including the liberated territories.

“I have already visited Gubadly, Fizuli, Zangilan and Aghdam. I have not been to Shusha, but I really hope to visit this city if I receive an invitation,” the ambassador said.

Fergus Auld noted that he feels a warm welcome wherever he goes in Azerbaijan.

“There is a special connection between Azerbaijan and the UK. It is manifested in relations between people, governments and business circles,” he said.

The Ambassador expressed confidence that Azerbaijan and the UK will support each other at every important step.
