Farid Shafiyev: Trade turnover between Turkic Council countries soared by 32% for 10 months

The Cooperation Council of Turkic Speaking States (Turkic Council) is an organization for integration, Report informs citing Chairman of the Board of Center for International Relations Analysis Farid Shafiyev who spoke at a conference in Baku dedicated to the 10th anniversary of the signing of the Nakhchivan agreement.

"We are united by a common history, culture and language. The main goal of the organization is the integration process. Therefore, in the framework of the organization, in addition to political and economic cooperation, much attention is paid to cultural relations. I would also like to note that from January to this day, trade between the countries of the Turkic Council has grown by 32, in 2018 by 29%,” Shafiyev said.

The CIRA chairman also noted that cooperation in the field of foreign policy and regional security also lies at the heart of the organization’s ideological concept.

The Cooperation Council of Turkic-Speaking States (Turkic Council) is an international platform, which is established to promote dialogue and cooperation of the Turkic world.

The establishment of the new organization was announced on 3 October 2009 at the summit in Nakhchivan (Azerbaijan) with principles reflected in the Istanbul Declaration of 16 September 2010.

At the first stage, the Turkic Council included Turkey, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan.
