Expert: Germany shows biased attitude towards Azerbaijan under French influence

“It seems to me that Germany's prejudiced attitude towards Azerbaijan is manifested under the French influence. We know that there is a strong Armenian diaspora in France. Germany and France are the two leaders of the European Union. Therefore, they try to take a common position on all key issues. When France began to oppose Azerbaijan rather harshly, German politicians and the media also began to support them”, Russian political scientist, Director of the Institute for Political Studies Sergei Markov told Report’s Russian Service.

According to the expert, this is the first, but not the only reason for such an attitude of Germany towards Azerbaijan.

“It is also linked to anti-Turkic sentiments. Both France and Germany have an ‘anti-Erdogan’ policy, which turns even into an ‘anti-Islamic’ policy,” the expert said.

Markov links the anti-Turkey propaganda to the large Turkish community in Germany.

“Since the European media now equates Turkey with Azerbaijan, the anti-Azerbaijani positions are a full manifestation of the anti-Turkish sentiments of Germany,” he added.
