Expert: Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan actively cooperate within ECO

Cooperation between Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan within the framework of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) contributes to the deepening and development of relations between the two countries, economist and independent researcher Ulugbek Kamaletdinov told Report.

“In general, relations between Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan within the framework of the ECO can be assessed as promising, given the more than half a billion consumer market of the organization’s countries. There is potential for developing cooperation in various fields, such as transport, energy, agriculture and tourism,” Kamaletdinov noted.

According to him, the last ECO summit, which took place in early November, was a key event for improving the organization’s activities and identifying prospects for the further development of transport, communications and humanitarian cooperation between the participating countries.

“The Organization of Economic Cooperation, in my opinion, is a fairly effective platform for consultations and cooperation between the countries of Central and South Asia. The participation of Türkiye and Azerbaijan in it significantly expands the transport and infrastructure capabilities of the organization,” the economist emphasized.
