EU expects to sign new agreement with Azerbaijan by end-year

A new deal between the EU and Azerbaijan is expected to be signed by the end of this year, Romanian Foreign Minister Bogdan Aurescu said at a press conference in Tbilisi on June 26, Report informs.

The foreign ministers of the three EU countries - Austria, Lithuania, and Romania - Alexander Schallenberg, Gabrielius Landsbergis, and Bogdan Aurescu visited the countries of the South Caucasus on the instruction of EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell.

Following official meetings in Baku, Yerevan, and Tbilisi, they held a press conference in the Georgian capital.

At the press conference, Aurescu noted that while in Azerbaijan, the foreign ministers expressed confidence that this country plays a crucial role in the stability and prosperity of the South Caucasus.

The ministers hope that the new agreement, which is being discussed between Azerbaijan and the EU, will be signed by the end of this year.
