Erdogan: Türkiye to continue comprehensive support for efforts to normalize relations between Baku and Yerevan

Türkiye will continue to provide comprehensive support for efforts to establish lasting peace between Azerbaijan and Armenia, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said at a meeting with the foreign ministers of the countries participating in the regional 3+3 platform in Istanbul, according to Report.

"The regional developments require strengthening cooperation and solidarity, and transforming the platform into an institutional structure will make the dialogue mechanism more effective," Erdogan's press service quotes him as saying.

Erdogan stated that Türkiye attaches great importance to the 3+3 platform, which is designed to ensure the resolution of regional problems through direct dialogue between countries. It is gratifying to see how the face of the South Caucasus is changing on the path to lasting peace, he said.

The meeting participants also discussed other topical issues on the regional and global agenda.

The meeting was attended by the Foreign Ministers of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov, Russia Sergey Lavrov, Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan and Iran Abbas Aragchi, who arrived in Istanbul for negotiations, as well as Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, head of the communications department of the Turkish presidential administration Fahrettin Altun and the Turkish leader's chief advisor on foreign policy and security Akif Cagatay Kilic.
