Erdogan: 'I welcome brotherly Azerbaijan to D-8'

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has welcomed Azerbaijan's accession to the 'Islamic Eight' (D-8), Report informs via Haber Global.

He addressed this topic at the 11th D-8 Summit in Cairo (Egypt).

"I say 'welcome' to brotherly Azerbaijan into our D-8 family," he said.

Erdogan noted that to develop the organization and expand its influence, it is necessary to 'open doors' for new members and partners.

"With Azerbaijan's accession to our organization today, we have become stronger than yesterday," he added.

The 'Islamic Eight' (D-8 - Organization for Economic Cooperation) is an international organization established in 1997 to develop economic cooperation between member countries (Türkiye, Iran, Nigeria, Egypt, Pakistan, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Bangladesh).
