Envoy: Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan reaching new co-op level

Bilateral cooperation between Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan is reaching a new level and is experiencing a new stage, Kazakh Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Azerbaijan Alim Bayel said at a round table on the topic “Azerbaijan-Kazakhstan: regional cooperation,” Report informs.

He noted that the level and intensification of relations between the two countries largely depends on mutual visits of heads of state.

“Over the past four months, Kazakh MPs, the country’s prime minister, the minister of culture, etc. have visited Azerbaijan, which indicates the level of our cooperation,” the ambassador noted.

“Trust-based dialogue between our countries is the key to the dynamism of our relations,” he said.

The ambassador emphasized that the issue of the Middle Corridor is on the agenda.

“Very important areas of partnership for us include trade, economic and investment cooperation,” Bayel said, adding that the dynamics of trade turnover between the two countries is very good. “In 2022, trade turnover increased to $460 million, and in 6 months of this year it already amounted to $300 million.”

According to the ambassador, the project to lay a fiber-optic communication line along the bottom of the Caspian Sea is very important.

“Practical work on this project will begin very soon. All this is being done to ensure the telecommunications independence of countries and to maintain information security,” he noted.

Bayel also added that Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan are important players in the region, and therefore cooperation in a broad context is very important.
