Latvian President Edgars Rinkevics said he fully supported a visa-free regime between Azerbaijan and the European Union, Report informs.
Speaking in a joint statement with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev in Baku, Rinkevics said he was seeing positive steps in cooperation between Azerbaijan and the EU.
He said the two sides had discussed the issue in particular and that he wanted to underline Latvia's full support for the introduction of a visa-free regime.
Rinkevics said Azerbaijan and the EU could discuss many issues and had reached conclusions on connectivity, transport and direct flights, but stressed that free access for Azerbaijani citizens to the European Union and for European citizens to Azerbaijan was important.
He said this would create significant potential not only for businesses, but also for people-to-people contacts and tourism.
