Director of WFP Berlin office: There are 59 conflicts globally today

There are currently 59 conflict zones in the world, Martin Frick, director of the Berlin Global Office of the World Food Programme (WFP), said during the second day of the Parliamentary Meeting at COP29 in Baku, Report informs.

He noted that the pandemic and conflicts in the world are disrupting the food supply chain.

"Inflation rates are rising in many countries around the world, and national currencies are being devalued. Thus, every war creates terrible tragedies. Expenses are rising due to pandemics. This leads to an increase in food prices," said Frick.

He added that climate change is also among these problems.

"Currently, the world has the potential to provide food for 10 billion people. However, food is distributed unevenly," Martin Frick noted.
