On April 6, the 4th Conference of the Parliamentary Network of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) was held in Tashkent, chaired by Speaker of the Milli Majlis of Azerbaijan, Sahiba Gafarova.
According to Report, the conference concluded with the adoption of the Tashkent Declaration, which highly praised Azerbaijan's role in strengthening peace, security, and the principles of the NAM.
Key highlights from the declaration include:
Support for the outcomes of COP29 in Baku, with particular emphasis on the Baku Climate Pact.
A strong statement reaffirming the right of return for all forcibly displaced communities, including the Western Azerbaijan Community, stressing the need to ensure their safe, peaceful, and dignified return.
Confirmation of the NAM Parliamentary Network's commitment to combating colonialism, and a positive assessment of the Baku Initiative Group’s role.
Endorsement of the creation of the NAM Women’s Platform and encouragement of increased youth participation in the organization’s activities.
The declaration also included special thanks to Sahiba Gafarova for her effective leadership and contributions to the development of the Parliamentary Network.
