Delegation of Russian Federation Council to observe elections in Azerbaijan

A delegation of the Federation Council (FC) of Russia, led by Chairman of the Committee on International Affairs Grigory Karasin, will take part in monitoring the presidential elections in Azerbaijan, Report informs via TASS.

"In the period from February 5 to 8, senators will take part in observing the early presidential elections of the Republic of Azerbaijan. The Federation Council delegation will be headed by the Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on International Affairs, Grigory Karasin," the press service of the upper house of the Russian Parliament said in a statement.

The parliamentarians will travel to Azerbaijan through the line of the CIS, SCO and CIS Intergovernmental Assembly missions.

The observers will also include First Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on Science, Education and Culture Ilyas Umakhanov, Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on Federal Structure, Regional Policy, Local Government and Northern Affairs Anatoly Shirokov and member of the Federation Council Committee on Constitutional Legislation and State Building Alexander Bashkin.

Early presidential elections will take place in Azerbaijan on February 7.
