During a special ceremony held at Riga Castle on 13 August 2019, the President of Latvia, Egils Levits, presented letters of credence to Dainis Garančs, the new Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Latvia to Azerbaijan, Report informs citing the press service of the Foreign Ministry of Latvia.
Dainis Garančs is currently the Head of the First Bilateral Relations Department. Dainis Garančs began his work in the Latvian Foreign Service in 1994 and during his diplomatic career took on various assignments at the Ministry headquarters. He has also been posted to several Latvian embassies abroad – in Ukraine, Uzbekistan, Poland, Kazakhstan, and Sweden. Serving in Poland and Sweden, Dainis Garančs held the post of Deputy Chief of Mission.
Dainis Garančs is fluent in English, Russian, Polish, and French.
