Costa Rica closes its embassy in Azerbaijan.

Report informs that from August 1, the diplomatic mission of this country will cease its activities in Baku. The embassy confirmed this information, but the reasons for this decision are not reported.

Notably, the official opening of the Embassy of the Republic of Costa Rica was held in Baku in November 2017. The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Faith of the Republic of Costa Rica Manuel Gonzales Sanz, who is on a visit to Azerbaijan, took part in the opening ceremony.

Commenting on the closure of the Costa Rican embassy in Baku, spokesperson of the Foreign Ministry of Azerbaijan Leyla Abdullayeva said that 'in line with the international practice, the decision on the opening or the closure of the embassies/diplomatic missions in any country is their sovereign right.'
