Brigitte Strobel-Shaw: Main goal of Baku summit - to strengthen co-op in fight against corruption

The main goal of holding the sixth plenary meeting of the Global Operational Network of Anti-Corruption Law Enforcement Authorities - GlobE Network in Baku is to strengthen cooperation in combating corruption, Brigitte Strobel-Shaw, the chief of the Corruption and Economic Crime Branch of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), said during the opening ceremony of the plenary session, according to Report.

She expressed gratitude to the Azerbaijani side for providing a platform for such discussions.

"Corruption does not recognize borders and crosses jurisdictions, exploits legal loopholes and thrives where there are disagreements. That's why the strength of this network [GlobE Network], cooperation, both bilateral and multilateral, is our main advantage," she said.

According to Brigitte Strobel-Shaw, participants of the session have a rich and focused program for the next few days: "From substantive discussions to expert workshops and practical training."

"Each element is designed to provide you with specific tools, new ideas and practical strategies that you can use in your country. These are not just sessions, these are opportunities to change knowledge and maintain efficiency," she added, addressing the meeting participants.
