Brazil planning to propose revision of UN Charter

Brazil is planning to propose a conference to review the UN Charter under Article 109 within the framework of its BRICS chairmanship next year at the UN General Assembly, Brazilian Foreign Minister Mauro Vieira said during an Outreach/BRICS Plus meeting in Kazan, Report informs.

According to Vieira, next year's main theme for BRICS will be strengthening global South cooperation for more inclusive and sustainable development: "This year's G20 presidency has confirmed an important call to action for global governance reforms, which has the support of many countries participating here."

The minister also outlined Brazil's priorities in the G20: "These are social integration, fighting climate change, as well as global governance reform and the establishment of world financing institutions. We also invite all countries to increase their ambitions regarding their national contributions in the fight against global warming."
