Bayramov: Baku expects practical steps from Armenia and France following flag burning incidents

Azerbaijan is concerned about persistent revanchist sentiments in Armenia, Azerbaijan's Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov said at a joint press conference with EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs Kaja Kallas in Baku.

Report quotes him as saying Armenia's ongoing militarization also poses a threat to the security of the South Caucasus region.

"Two days ago, during a mass procession in Armenia, there were calls full of hatred toward Azerbaijan and Türkiye. The flags of Azerbaijan and Türkiye were burned there, which is completely unacceptable. Unfortunately, similar actions took place yesterday in the French capital Paris, albeit on a smaller scale," Bayramov said.

The minister emphasized that the desecration of state symbols of other countries is a crime, including according to the legislation of these two countries. "Baku expects practical steps from the governments of Armenia and France in accordance with their legislation regarding these incidents. Authorities should prevent such actions, which are shameful for society," he added.
