Azerbaijani Ombudsman: ‘President's recommendations on human rights protection to be our top priority’

“The calls and recommendations made by the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev for more effective protection of human rights and freedoms will be the main priority areas of our future activities in this field,” said Sabina Aliyeva, the Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) of Azerbaijan, during her speech at the International Baku Forum of Ombudspersons, Report informs.

Aliyeva expressed gratitude to President Ilham Aliyev for his address to the forum: "As the Ombudsman of a country where the fundamental rights of more than one million compatriots, who became refugees and internally displaced persons as a result of Armenia's military aggression, have been grossly violated for many years, I express my deep gratitude to the head of the Azerbaijani state, Ilham Aliyev, the guarantor of our territorial integrity and sovereignty, who created the basis for our former IDPs to return to their historical ancestral lands, thereby ensuring the protection of their human rights, for his address to the participants of the International Baku Forum."
