Azerbaijani MP: Armenia continues to receive traditional support from West

Azerbaijani MP Rasim Musabayov believes that Armenia continues to receive traditional support from the West even today.

In a conversation with Report, Musabayov noted the case of the Zurich Protocols, prepared without the knowledge of Azerbaijan.

“Important figures attended the signing of these protocols, including [former head of EU diplomacy Federica] Mogherini from the European Union, US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, as well as the foreign ministers of France and Russia. They assumed that the signing of the protocols would force Azerbaijan to agree to Armenia’s demands, but the result turned out to be the opposite. Azerbaijan protested, and Türkiye stated that it would not open the borders with Armenia and normalize relations until the situation with Azerbaijan was resolved,” he said.

The deputy emphasized that currently the allied relations between Azerbaijan and Türkiye in the military-political sphere are at a very high level. He called on third parties not to make mistakes and not waste time, hoping that by persuading Azerbaijan and Türkiye, favorable conditions can be created for Armenia.

The parliamentarian noted that Türkiye is not obliged to take unilateral steps to normalize relations with Armenia, since it is Yerevan that needs this. According to him, Armenia must conclude a peace treaty with Azerbaijan and not interfere with the use of the Zangazur Corridor. After such actions, problems with opening borders with Türkiye and Azerbaijan will be eliminated, and Armenia will be able to get out of its “deadlock,” he added.
