It is the sovereign right of every state to conduct various exercises within its internationally recognized borders, Leyla Abdullayeva, spokesperson of the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry, told Report.
"To date, Azerbaijan has conducted numerous military exercises in its territory, including joint exercises with the participation of partner countries. The joint tactical training launched in the Lachin district is a similar step and serves the stability in the region," she said, commenting on the Armenian Foreign Ministry's claim that joint Azerbaijani-Turkish exercises in the Lachin district run contrary to the trilateral statement of November 10, 2020, and undermine peace and security.
"We would like to draw the attention of the Armenian Foreign Ministry to the fact that a military training a state holds in its own territory cannot be a threat to regional peace and security, but Armenia's claims to other countries' territories, its military aggression, occupation of other countries' lands and, finally, violation of the international law principles are," the Foreign Ministry official said.
"If Armenia wants the establishment of peace and security in the region, then it must fulfill its obligations," Leyla Abdullayeva said in a statement.
