Azerbaijani MFA: RIA Novosti's slanderous information is regrettable

The Russian state news agency's dissemination of slanderous and separatist information, which contradicts the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan, does not correspond to the spirit of friendly relations between Azerbaijan and Russia, and thus is deeply related regrettable, Leyla Abdullayeva, Head of the Press Service Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan said while answering a media question about the interpretation of the interview of Artak Beglaryan, who introduced himself as the so-called Minister of the illegal formation in Azerbaijani territories, to RIA Novosti.

"This step of the State Agency is contrary to the provisions of the 1997 Agreement on Friendship, Security and Strategic Partnership between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Russian Federation and the 2022 Declaration on Allied Interaction 'to refrain from any action aimed at the partial or total disruption of the national unity and territorial integrity of any other State or in any other manner inconsistent with the Purposes of the United Nations' and countering separatism.

"The dissemination of these provocative statements by RIA Novosti also overshadows the efforts of the Russian Federation to establish peace in the region at the post-conflict stage," the foreign ministry official noted.
