Azerbaijani Foreign Minister meets with OIC Secretary-General

On the sidelines of the 77th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mr. Jeyhun Bayramov held a meeting, on September 20, 2022, with H.E. the Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Mr. Hissein Brahim Taha, Report informs.

Minister Jeyhun Bayramov noted that Azerbaijan attaches great importance to cooperation with the OIC and that very close cooperation is carried out with the organization. He thanked the OIC for traditional support for Azerbaijan's position of rights, territorial integrity and sovereignty based on international law. The minister provided the OIC chief with detailed information about Armenia's recent provocations against Azerbaijan and voiced Azerbaijan's determination to continue effective cooperation with the OIC.

During the meeting, H.E. the Secretary-General reiterated the principled position of the OIC in support of the Republic of Azerbaijan against the Armenian attacks on its territories.

He recalled with satisfaction this year's visit to Azerbaijan and the meetings held there.

The sides exchanged views on current issues of the cooperation agenda within the framework of the OIC, the regional situation and plans for joint education, culture and a number of other fields with Azerbaijan within the framework of the organization.
