Azerbaijani Foreign Minister meets Director General of Islamic Organization for Food Security

Azerbaijan's Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov, participating in the Summit of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in Banjul, met with Berek Eren, the Director-General of the Islamic Organization for Food Security (IOFS), Report informs.

According to the Press Service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the meeting focused on the prospects of cooperation between Azerbaijan and IOFS, as well as Azerbaijan's international aid programs.

Bayramov expressed Azerbaijan's keen interest in enhancing collaboration across various sectors with specialized OIC institutions.

He underscored the significance of mutual cooperation in addressing critical issues such as food security, emphasizing Azerbaijan's active role as a donor country in international aid efforts.

Considering Azerbaijan's hosting of the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) this year and the intersection of food security and climate change, Bayramov suggested exploring avenues for collaboration within COP29.

In response, IOFS Director-General Berek Eren thanked Azerbaijan for its active involvement in OIC activities and briefed Bayramov on IOFS's mission and programs.

The meeting also included discussions on various other matters of mutual interest.
