During his official visit to Pakistan, Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov met with his Pakistani counterpart Shah Mahmoud Qureshi, Report informs, citing the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry.
According to the Foreign Ministry, Minister Mahdum Shah Mahmoud Qureshi welcomed the Azerbaijani delegation. Describing the Pakistan-Azerbaijan relations as ties between two friendly and brotherly countries, the Pakistani minister said that the relations in the political sphere are at a high level. He also stressed the prospects for developing cooperation in bilateral trade, investment and energy.
Jeyhun Bayramov stressed Pakistan's unequivocal political and moral support to Azerbaijan's position on the former Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict, as well as Azerbaijan's position based on international law during the 44-day war, and noted that it was remembered with gratitude by the Azerbaijani people. Along with the high-level development of bilateral relations, the Azerbaijani minister referred to the ongoing trilateral cooperation, including the tripartite meeting of the Azerbaijani-Pakistani-Turkish foreign ministers this year, as well as the meeting of the speakers of the parliaments of the three countries.
The sides noted that the upcoming meeting of the economic commission this year and underlined that the meeting of the two countries' presidents within the Economic Cooperation Organization Summit framework contributed to the further development of bilateral relations.
Speaking about the restoration and construction work carried out in the liberated territories of Azerbaijan, Minister Jeyhun Bayramov expressed gratitude for the use of Pakistan's experience in the demining process and the support of the friendly country in this regard.
The ministers also exchanged views on the humanitarian situation in Afghanistan and other regional issues of mutual interest.
