The 3+3 format (Azerbaijan, Armenia, Georgia, Russia, Iran, and Türkiye) is in demand, and participating countries should discuss the full range of issues of mutual interest, Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov said at an expanded meeting with his Russian counterpart, Sergey Lavrov, on Friday in Moscow, Report informs.
"In 2021, in the context of the situation in the South Caucasus, we had a different situation, a different dynamic. Today, the situation is changing dramatically. Three meetings have so far been held in Moscow, Tehran, and Istanbul. The last meeting took place in 2024. Our position is that, following the third meeting in 2024, the Azerbaijani side proposed holding the next meeting in Azerbaijan. We believe this format is in demand and important, but participating countries should discuss the full range of issues of mutual interest to our countries," Bayramov noted.
In turn, Sergey Lavrov noted that the parties reaffirmed the importance of multilateral cooperation within this format.
"We welcomed the fact that on the sidelines of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, on June 5 of this year, a meeting of experts from the 3+3 format was held, with all six countries participating. We hope that our Azerbaijani and Armenian colleagues will soon agree on a schedule for the next ministerial meetings, and we will decide whether it will take place in Baku or Yerevan," Lavrov added.
