A memorial evening dedicated to the national leader of the Azerbaijani people Heydar Aliyev has been held in Moscow, Report informs.
The event organized by the Azerbaijani Embassy in Russia was attended by prominent political and public figures from Russia, representatives of foreign embassies accredited in Moscow, and the Azerbaijani diaspora.
The evening's guests viewed a photo exhibition dedicated to various stages of life and multifaceted activities of the great leader Heydar Aliyev.
Opening the evening, Azerbaijan's Ambassador to Russia Rahman Mustafayev noted that the revival of Azerbaijani statehood is associated with Heydar Aliyev's name.
"The Almighty granted Heydar Aliyev a long political life filled with bright events, victories, and achievements," said the ambassador.
The diplomat spoke about Heydar Aliyev's successes as the head of the Azerbaijan SSR, characterizing these years as a renaissance period for the republic. Rahman Mustafayev emphasized that these successes largely played a role in Heydar Aliyev being called to Moscow and becoming the first deputy chairman of the USSR Council of Ministers, overseeing the most serious aspects of social, economic, and ideological life of the country.
"Heydar Aliyev's Moscow five-year period, his years of work in Moscow were also bright and full of achievements," he noted.
The ambassador reminded that Heydar Aliyev's return to power in 1993 coincided with the most difficult and crucial period in Azerbaijan's history.
"Our country was one step away from losing independence and falling apart. In a short time, Heydar Aliyev managed to restore the situation in the country, stabilize the economy and social sphere. Heydar Aliyev did not see liberated Karabakh. But his historical mission was to create the foundation for our victory. The current president of the country, Ilham Aliyev, created a strategy for victory based on this foundation and successfully implemented it," concluded the diplomat.
