Azerbaijani Deputy FM signs book of condolences in honor of former US President Carter

Azerbaijani Deputy Foreign Minister Elnur Mammadov signed a book of condolences opened at the US Embassy in Baku in memory of former US President Jimmy Carter, Report informs.

“We thank the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry and all those who joined us in signing our condolence book in honor of former President Carter and his legacy as a peace maker and statesman,” US Embassy in Baku wrote on X.

Jimmy Carter, the 39th President of the United States, passed away on December 29, 2024, at his home in Plains, Georgia, at the age of 100.

Serving as President from 1977 to 1981, Carter is remembered for his dedication to human rights, his pivotal role in mediating the Camp David Accords between Israel and Egypt, and his active engagement in public service after his presidency. In recognition of his contributions, he was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2002.
