Azerbaijani community condemns irresponsible actions of French politicians

The Azerbaijani community living in France has strongly condemned the illegal visit of French presidential candidate Valérie Pécresse, along with French MPs Bruno Retailleau and Michel Barnier, to the Karabakh region of Azerbaijan, Report informs.

A statement issued by the Coordination Council of Azerbaijanis of France (CCAF) said that the Azerbaijani community strongly condemns the illegal visit of presidential candidate Valérie Pécresse, Senator Bruno Retailleau and former MEP Michel Barnier to the Karabakh region and their meeting with leaders of the separatist regime:

“This irresponsible political step is especially destructive and dangerous in the context of the recent rapprochement of the heads of state of Azerbaijan and Armenia, who are trying to achieve lasting peace in the Caucasus.”

Azerbaijanis of France reminded Ms. Pécresse that if elected President of France, this visit would discredit her as a participant in the peace process and exclude France from any international negotiations.

They noted that French President Emmanuel Macron recently contributed to the meeting of the President of Azerbaijan with the Prime Minister of Armenia.

The French, committed to the French tradition of mediation in international conflicts, can only welcome his respectful and responsible approach, the Azerbaijani community stressed.
