Azerbaijani appointed deputy minister in Ukraine

The newly appointed deputy energy minister of Ukraine is of Azerbaijani descent, Report informs.

Farid Safarov has recently been appointed to the post.

Prior to this appointment, Safarov worked as Director-General of the Digital Infrastructure Department for Transport and Postal Services at the Ukrainian Ministry of Infrastructure.

Safarov is originally from Ganja, Azerbaijan. He was born on September 20, 1991, in Kyiv. In 2014, he received a master's degree in International Law from Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv. In 2015, he graduated from the Kyiv National Economic University named after Vadym Hetman with a degree in International Business. At the same time, Safarov is currently a researcher and graduate student at the Institute of International Relations of Taras Shevchenko Kyiv National University.

He speaks Azerbaijani, Ukrainian, English, German, Russian and Turkish.

Safarov is the son of Kamil Safarov, who worked in the diplomatic corps of Azerbaijan in Ukraine.
