A meeting was held between Azerbaijan"s Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov and Uganda"s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, John Mulimba, Report informs, citing the Azerbaijani MFA.
During the meeting, the sides discussed various aspects of Azerbaijan-Uganda relations, including political, economic, trade, energy security, and humanitarian cooperation. They also exchanged views on collaboration within regional and international organizations such as the United Nations, the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM), and the African Union.
Marking the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries, the ministers exchanged congratulatory messages and expressed satisfaction with the prospects for enhancing bilateral and multilateral cooperation.
They noted the importance of joint efforts during Azerbaijan"s chairmanship of the NAM, especially the establishment of the NAM Youth Organization, and emphasized the need to maintain the momentum during Uganda"s upcoming chairmanship.
Minister Bayramov informed his counterpart about Azerbaijan"s initiatives and plans regarding the development and use of alternative energy sources, highlighting renewable energy as a promising area for cooperation.
He also stressed the successful implementation of Azerbaijan"s ASAN Service model in Uganda as a sign of fruitful experience sharing between the two nations.
Bayramov briefed Mulimba on the outcomes of the August 8, 2025, Washington meeting, where the draft "Agreement on the Establishment of Peace and Interstate Relations between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Armenia" was initialed. He also noted the joint appeal calling for the closure of the OSCE Minsk Group and its affiliated structures, remnants of the former conflict.
In response, Minister John Mulimba congratulated Azerbaijan on the historic agreements reached during the Washington meeting and expressed hope for a successful outcome to the peace process.
The meeting concluded with an exchange of views on issues of mutual interest.
On the same day, political consultations were held between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Uganda. The consultations were led by Azerbaijani Deputy Foreign Minister Yalchin Rafiyev and Ugandan Minister of State for Foreign Affairs John Mulimba.
