Azerbaijan's Victory Day celebrated in Mexican Congress

A photo exhibition entitled "Azerbaijan: a long path to success" was organized by the Mexican Congress on the Day of Restoration of Azerbaijan's Independence and Victory Day, the Azerbaijani Embassy in Mexico told Report.

At the event attended by several members of the Mexican Chamber of Deputies and local media, Azerbaijani Ambassador to Mexico Mammad Talibov briefed the guests on the history of Azerbaijan's independence, the establishment and activities of the ADR, the restoration of state independence and the difficulties encountered in the first years, the exceptional services of national leader Heydar Aliyev in strengthening the Azerbaijani statehood, the country's achievements over the past 30 years, as well as the rich art and culture of Azerbaijan.

Then the history of the Armenian aggression, the results of the Great Patriotic War, the existing obstacles to the return of Azerbaijani IDPs, the mass mining and destruction in the liberated land, the work done by Azerbaijan to restore these territories, as well as the activities of Azerbaijan in the framework of influential international organizations and bilateral relations with Mexico were discussed.

The ambassador also said that during the conflict, the Mexican Congress always stood for international law and thanked the Congress for the adoption of documents condemning the Armenian aggression against Azerbaijan and recognizing the Khojaly genocide.

Prior to the exhibition's official opening, Congress held a press conference with leading Mexican media and answered questions from local media.

Navor Rojas, a member of Congress and a representative of the ruling Morena party, spoke about the traditionally friendly relations between Azerbaijan and Mexico, noting that inter-parliamentary cooperation has made an essential contribution to bringing the two peoples closer.

Other Mexican MPs also congratulated the Azerbaijani people on the 30th anniversary of the restoration of independence and its territorial integrity on behalf of the Mexican people.

The exhibition, which features the photos depicting Azerbaijan's 30 years of independence, its achievements in the international arena, its culture, tourism opportunities, as well as its historic victory in the Patriotic War and the construction work in the liberated areas, attracted great interest.
