Spain's Chargé d'affaires in Azerbaijan Patricia Serrano Sanchez was summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in connection with a provocative post on X social media platform of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation of the Kingdom of Spain supporting the so-called separatist regime established as a result of the occupation of Azerbaijan's territories by Armenia, Report informs.
At the meeting, it was emphasized that the mentioned post on X by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation of the Kingdom of Spain was unacceptable and that such a step was taken by a country like Spain, which is fighting separatism in its territory, was incomprehensible. It was pointed out that this non-constructive approach does not correspond to the spirit of Azerbaijan-Spain relations and is strongly condemned by Azerbaijan.
Spain's chargé d'affaires said that his country continuously supports the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Azerbaijan and that there has been no change in this position. The Spanish diplomat, who said that the mentioned post on X was a technical error, pointed out that this post was deleted immediately after the Azerbaijani side expressed its concern.
The Azerbaijani side said that it is important to take appropriate measures so that such situations do not happen again.
