Azerbaijan's MFA responds to EU statement

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan has commented on the statement of spokesman for EU Council President Charles Michel regarding the situation in the region.

According to Report, the response says that after the talks that followed the discussions at the trilateral meeting held between the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, the President of the Council of the European Union Charles Michel and the Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan in Brussels on July 15, 2023, an agreement was reached on the delivery of goods to the Karabakh district of Azerbaijan via various routes, as well as on the intensification of the use of the Lachin road in parallel with the opening of the Aghdam-Khankandi road:

"Nevertheless, Armenia's refusal of the agreement by putting forward illegal conditions and various excuses through the so-called regime prevented the implementation of this agreement. We also recall that, despite the agreement reached, the Armenian side at the last moment refused the meeting of the special representative of Azerbaijan with representatives of local Armenian residents at the outset of August this year. Unfortunately, from July 15 until today, Armenia and its so-called regime continue to impede the implementation and promotion of this agenda agreed within the framework of the mentioned trilateral meeting, while undermining the efforts of the European Union and other international partners."
