Azerbaijan's FM: Over 20,000 former IDPs expected to return to their homeland by year-end

More than 20,000 former internally displaced persons (IDPs) are expected to return to their homeland by the end of this year, Azerbaijan's Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov said during a joint press conference with his Turkish counterpart Hakan Fidan in Ankara, Report informs.

Bayramov praised Türkiye's unwavering support in the reconstruction and restoration of the Karabakh region, which was liberated after 30 years of occupation.

He emphasized that Turkish companies have been at the forefront in providing support to Azerbaijani companies in this process.

“Thanks to these efforts, we are witnessing a completely different landscape in a short period," Bayramov stated.

"Every month, we celebrate the completion of new projects and the return of our people to their homes. By the end of 2026, as the first phase of repatriation concludes, more than 140,000 of our citizens will have returned to Karabakh," he noted.
