Azerbaijan represented at International Conference of Lawyers held in Tbilisi

Tbilisi. 8 November. REPORT.AZ/ The International Conference of Lawyers is held in Tbilisi, the capital of Georgia.

Georgian Bureau of Report News Agency informs that the event was organized by the Council of Europe, European Association of Lawyers and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP).

Along with Georgia, the members of bar associations from Azerbaijan, Poland, Belarus, Armenia, Russia and Ukraine attend the international conference.

Azerbaijan is represented by Chairman of the Bar Association Anar Bagirov and member of the Presidium of the Board Fariz Mammadov.

The purpose of the two-day event is to develop relationships between lawyers from various countries and to exchange experience in advocacy.

Speaking at the conference, Chairman of the Georgian Bar Association of Georgia David Asatiani congratulated the participants on the occasion of the Day of Lawyers in the country. He said that the level of professionalism of lawyers in Georgia has increased in recent years: "Only about 2 per cent of lawyers can be judges in Georgia. This is a very small indicator. The Board is working to increase the professionalism of lawyers."

Later, the Chairman of the European Association of Lawyers, Maria Slazak urged lawyers representing various countries to work closely with the organization. She noted that the Association can be represented by all the members of the Council of Europe's lawyers.

The conference is continued with panels dedicated to various topics.
