Azerbaijan has repatriated 210 citizens stranded in the United States on the first charter flight from New York City, which departed at 12:00 pm US time on June 10, Report says.
An Azerbaijani Airlines-chartered flight arranged by the Azerbaijani Embassy in Washington brought back the nationals from Los Angeles, Florida, Philadelphia, New York and other US cities and states.
Most of the evacuees are students, older people and the citizens facing financial problems, Consul of the Azerbaijani Embassy in the US Emil Muradzade told Report.
“The Embassy will take further measures to arrange the next charter flights, and compile a new list. I want to remind all our citizens living in the United States to register properly in the embassy,” said the Consul.
The US is the country worst hit by COVID-19 pandemic, which reported over 2 million infections and more than 115,000 related deaths. More than 800,000 people have recovered from the disease in the country.
