Azerbaijan elected vice president of 40th UNESCO General Conference

President and vice president of the session of the 40th UNESCO General Conference have been elected in Paris.

Report France's bureau reports that Turkey has been elected president of the 40th session of the General Conference and Azerbaijan is elected the Vice President.

The 40th session of the UNESCO General Conference, which was attended by representatives of 193 members and 10 associate member countries of the organization, started in Paris on November 12. The event is attended by Deputy Foreign Minister Ramiz Hasanov, Secretary General of the National Commission of the Republic of Azerbaijan on UNESCO, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador Elnur Sultanov, Head of the Permanent Mission at UNESCO, Ambassador Anar Karimov, as well as the diplomats of the permanent mission at the General Conference.

The General Conference will discuss international ideas on new multilateral approaches to current issues ranging from higher education to artificial intelligence.

Many memorable political events will be held as part of the event. A number of heads of state and government will attend the high-level event "Revisiting Multilateral Relations with Young Actors of the New Generation". Education Ministers from more than 100 countries will attend the ministerial meeting on inclusion and mobility to be held on November 13.

On November 19, the Minister of Culture of 107 countries will hold a roundtable on "State policy and the role of culture in sustainable development".

The 11th UNESCO Youth Forum will be held on November 18 as part of the General Conference. The forum will bring best practices for the youth to participate in UNESCO activities. The forum will provide a platform for dialogue between UNESCO and its member states to share knowledge and experience, and discuss issues of cooperation among young actors of the change. On the same day there will be a meeting on "The Voice of Youth and the Future of Artificial Intelligence".

An Information Brochure on Violence Against Women will be presented to journalists ahead of the International Day Against Gender Violence on November 22. The aim is to educate journalists on the subject.

For the first time on November 15, on the occasion of the Convention Day, all member states will be invited to sign the conventions prepared by the body and submit the ratification mechanisms to the Director General.

Ministers of Culture and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan will also attend the meetings and express their views on the issues discussed.
