Azerbaijan, Colombia explore new cooperation opportunities

Azerbaijan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Jeyhun Bayramov met with Colombia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Luis Gilberto Murillo during the high-level week of the 79th session of the UN General Assembly (UNGA 79), Report informs, citing Azerbaijan’s Foreign Ministry.

Bayramov highlighted the importance of enhancing cooperation in political, economic, and humanitarian fields over the past 30 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries. He emphasized the significance of high-level mutual visits, political consultations, and the development of inter-institutional relations in priority sectors.

The parties also discussed the potential for cooperation within international organizations. They noted that COP29, which Azerbaijan will host this year, offers favorable opportunities for new partnerships, and Azerbaijan is keen to collaborate with Colombia in this context.

Additionally, the Colombian minister was briefed on the new realities in the region following Azerbaijan’s restoration of sovereignty and territorial integrity. This includes large-scale restoration and construction efforts in Azerbaijan’s territories liberated from occupation, as well as the ongoing normalization and peace process between Azerbaijan and Armenia.

The meeting concluded with an exchange of views on new cooperation directions and other topics of mutual interest.
