“We urgently need to review our policies and improve our behavior to ensure more equitable, sustainable and secure development throughout the OSCE region,” Azay Guliyev, head of Azerbaijan's delegation to the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, chairman of the PA’s General Committee for Economic Affairs, Science, Technologies & Environment, said at the conference themed “The role of national parliaments in promoting security and stability through green economy, transport coordination and sustainable development”, Report informs.
According to him, both the Parliament of Azerbaijan and the second committee of the OSCE PA actively support the issues of economic recovery, transition to a green economy and environmental protection: “Now, we need to lead by example more than ever. We are in the midst of a perfect storm of multiple overlapping and interconnected security challenges, the ever-increasing climate crisis, and the lingering socio-economic consequences of a devastating pandemic. Our citizens are paying the highest price because of rising costs of living, increasing energy and food insecurity, increasing social tension and radicalization, frequent disconnections, etc. But in every crisis there are also several opportunities. Therefore, we must identify these new opportunities and use them to build a better future for our citizens.”
