Every tenth resident of Azerbaijan holds the status of an internally displaced person, Asaf Hajiyev, Secretary General of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (PABSEC), said during the panel discussion "Parliamentary Diplomacy in Global Governance" at the 4th Antalya Diplomacy Forum.
He noted that all the property of people expelled from their homes 30 years ago had been completely destroyed.
"Azerbaijan has invested billions of dollars into the reconstruction of Karabakh, liberated from occupation. This is a significant amount for a single country," he said.
Hajiyev also emphasized that the issue of refugees and displaced persons is a global problem.
