Asadov: Azerbaijan and Russia to study Caspian Sea shallowing problem

Baku and Moscow have formed a commission to address the Caspian Sea shallowing problem and expect other Caspian states to join their efforts, Azerbaijan's Prime Minister Ali Asadov said as he met with his Russian counterpart Mikhail Mishustin.

According to Report, Asadov recalled that Caspian issues were discussed during Russian President Vladimir Putin's state visit to Azerbaijan in August.

"Following the instructions of both presidents, bilateral working groups have already been formed at the deputy minister level. This agenda is very important. I think other Caspian countries may join after us," said the Prime Minister of Azerbaijan.

He noted that "the commission's task is to identify the causes affecting the sea level decline and develop measures to reduce shallowing."

"This is an extremely important issue for our region. For Russia, I hope, it is also very important, as President Putin mentioned," said Asadov.

Regarding humanitarian cooperation between the two countries, Asadov emphasized that "Azerbaijan has great respect for the Russian language and Russian culture." "Expanding cooperation in education is on the agenda," Asadov stated.
