Artis Pabriks: Latvia considers Azerbaijan its key partner in South Caucasus

Latvia traditionally views Azerbaijan as its primary partner in the South Caucasus, former Latvian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Defense, Artis Pabriks, told Report on the sidelines of the 12th Global Baku Forum.

Pabriks emphasized that relations between the two countries have traditionally been strong, with significant potential for further development of bilateral ties.

"The war between Russia and Ukraine has caused a new energy crisis in the region, and Azerbaijan has become an important partner in strengthening Europe's energy security," he noted.

According to the former minister, Europe has always been and will continue to be interested in expanding trade relations with Azerbaijan.

He also praised the high level of organization of the ongoing Global Baku Forum.

"The forum provides an opportunity to connect with people who are not always accessible at international conferences or other events in Europe," Pabriks added.
