Armenian lies exposed in Mexican newspaper

ContraReplica, an influential Mexican newspaper, published an article by Azerbaijani Ambassador Mammad Talibov on war crimes committed by Armenia during the 30-year conflict, current provocative steps that escalate tensions in the South Caucasus, new realities in the region, work done by Azerbaijan and the main conditions for lasting peace in the region, Report informs, citing the Azerbaijani Embassy in Mexico.

The article first mentions the war and crimes committed by Armenia against humanity during the 30-year occupation, as well as ballistic missile attacks on cities outside the conflict zone during the 44-day war, which caused numerous casualties among our civilians, as well as Armenian vandalism and mass mining in the liberated territories, and its consequences.

Then the article says that the periodic tension in the region was caused by the steps taken by the Armenian military-political leadership, the illegal visit of the former Defense Minister to Azerbaijani territories, where Russian peacekeepers are temporarily stationed, the concentration of about 60 Armenian servicemen on the road to Lachin, and opening of fire on the Azerbaijani positions in Lachin and Kalbajar.

"However, Azerbaijan remains committed to the requirements of the tripartite statement and is currently focusing all its efforts on the reconstruction of the region, the restoration of roads and communication lines and the comprehensive development of the region," the article said.

The article also comments on the issue of "prisoners of war", which is one of the main elements of the destructive rhetoric of the Armenian side. It is mentioned that they were terrorists, not prisoners of war, because they attempted to commit a terrorist act in Azerbaijan after the tripartite agreement signed on November 10, 2020, and are currently being prosecuted by the relevant authorities of Azerbaijan: "However, as a sign of goodwill, those who did not directly participate in criminal activities were released."

In the end, the article says that despite the fact that Azerbaijan has repeatedly appealed to Armenia to start demarcation and delimitation of borders and develop a final peace agreement, it has not received any positive response yet. It's reported that in order to achieve lasting peace in the region, Armenia must renounce its territorial claims against its neighbours, recognize the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan, prepare its people for reconciliation and learn to live in good neighbourliness with the countries of the region.
