Azerbaijan has established the necessary conditions for lasting stability across the South Caucasus, said Antun Dujmović, Senior Legal Advisor at the Department of European Integration of the Institute for Development and International Relations (Croatia).
"This is truly a historic moment for Azerbaijan. It paves the way for the reintegration of its internationally recognized territories, and the integration of Karabakh contributes to broader regional stability," Dujmović told Report.
He emphasized that the issue had been lingering for three decades and has now reached a logical resolution.
"Of course, challenges remain. But the current situation—where the country exercises full control over its territory—lays the groundwork for long-term peace in the region, not just a temporary ceasefire," he said.
Dujmović also noted that President Ilham Aliyev has the deep understanding of both regional and global affairs.
"Our conversation with President Ilham Aliyev was an incredible experience. We gained many valuable insights," he noted.
The expert shared his impressions from a recent visit to the liberated territories:
"We visited Karabakh and Khankandi. We witnessed the situation on the ground, saw people returning to their homes, and observed the country's reconstruction efforts. It was a truly remarkable experience."
