“Today we will participate in the event to be held in connection with the 100th anniversary of Heydar Aliyev. Diplomatic relations between France and Azerbaijan are of great importance. I would like to emphasize that Heydar Aliyev, the founder of independent Azerbaijan, made his first diplomatic visit to France in 1993. Thus, in 1993, Heydar Aliyev met with the President of France. This meeting is of great importance between the two countries. After that visit, the foundation of diplomatic relations between France and Azerbaijan was laid. From the first moment we arrived in Nakhchivan, I was impressed by the exhibits in the museum. The French foreign minister visited Azerbaijan last week. This also plays an important role in the expansion of diplomatic relations between the countries. Both political and cultural relations between France and Azerbaijan have always been at a high level,” the ambassador said.

Boillon stressed that the high level of relations between France and Azerbaijan results from the successful foreign policy of the heads of state and the relations between the two countries: “Both sides are constantly working on the development of relations and taking necessary steps.”
